Different scenarios for 0.9 release
1=Minimal result, up to n+1 = best result
  1. The minimal result would be to collect only existing audio packages into a Debian task or Debian project
  2. We add DeMuDi Kernel and DeMuDi patches and PCMCIA modules + ALSA modules
  3. Core Applications non available in Debian and problematic, i.e. Ardour, Pd-externals, cinelerra and minimum Jack set up.
  4. Integration for all applications with sound servers.Jackification for as many apps as possible and non professional apps could go into esd
  5. Documentation + Tutorials + Examples, Tour etc.
  6. CD installation. Libdiscover modification to fit ALSA modules plus integration with Debian-installer (?)
  7. AGNULA System Manager and customisation for the default Window Manager (mime extra menus etc...)

ROADMAP
TASKRESOURCESDEADLINESNOTES
TASKS with very high priority
Debian Project integration TR Marco Trevisani, Free Ekanayaka October 15
1 days left
Andreas Tille is the author of debian-med-dev a package for organising Debian projects.
Kernel + patches + ALSA. TR Free Ekanayaka October 15
1 days left
At some point
Jack support FupF Guenter Geiger November 1
18 days left
All core Apps should be jackified or esd-fied (Nicola Bernardini...volunteered ...:-) )
Core Application packaging withOUT Debian Maintainer TR FUPF November 20
37 days left
The idea is to find Debian maintainer interested in taking care of these packages.
Documentation TR Dave Phillips November 4 and November 20
21 days left,
37 days left
Documentation for each Core Application will be packaged in a separate package from the application. By November 4 should be ready some documentation for the applications that will be used as Demo in Copenhagen. By November 20 should be ready all documentation for the Core applications that will be available in the 0.9 release. Documentation package should go in /usr/share/doc/<package>-demudi in order to avoid overwriting of existing documentation.
TASKS with medium priority
Core Application packaging with Debian Maintainer TR & Debian (see next table) November 20
37 days left
The idea is to find maximum cooperation with Debian maintainer in order to have latest upstream author release packaged in DeMuDI & Debian. Coordinated by Marco Trevisani.
Settings & Menus TR & F-UPF November 20
37 days left
DeMuDi menu integration in the Debian style plus DeMuDi menu for settings similar to the DeMuDi alpha.
CD installation TR & F-UPF November 15
32 days left
Debian installer could used.Debian team is willing to cooperate. Raphael Hertzog is the leader of the project. It says the installer should be ready to work in very little time with little hacks...to verify
Agnula System Manager TR Marco Trevisani November 20
37 days left
This is could go into the first release. If it does not, only the setting menu will be available similar to the alpha DeMuDi release
TASKS with very low priority
Tutorials, examples, Grand Tour TR Dave Phillips April 2003 It does not hurt if it will be ready either before or even better by November.... but is somehow less important than having a good documentation
xfce TR Marco Trevisani April 2003 This is not urgent. Some more testing is necessary to figure this is a good window manager for DeMuDi . It looks fine, light, complete (even drag&Drop) fast, it does not drunk resources as it was Bukowsky. It is Gnome compatible. It would be nice for the release, more realistic for the second.
Work could be done in collaboration with Debian Maintainer and xfce author
Note: A strict cooperation with Debian is important in order to integrate DeMuDi into Debian as Debian-multimedia project. That would eventually happen within the next year.

Upstream author/maintainer communication and packaging in DeMuDi:
  • DeMuDi Applications without a Debian Maintainer: This will be decided case by case, if not included in the below table. It would be nice and more practical if a maintainer candidate will be found in the mean time (Marco Trevisani's Task)
  • DeMuDi Applications with a Debian maintainer and with specific problems (i.e. jackificationm or any other technical problem) will happen in general between DeMuDi Maintainer and Debian Maintainer directly. It will be decide case by case.
  • DeMuDi applications with a Debian Maintainer , either in the Core Apps list or nor without any specific problem. Communication maintained by Marco Trevisani
